With one of our key offices in Glasgow, it’s inspiring being on the ground of Cop26 as we prepare CrowdX for launch.
We recognise that as a new capital market for privately-held companies we have an important role to play in supporting growth companies and enabling stakeholders to extract value.
But to us that’s not just about fuelling growth. It’s about finding better and more sustainable ways to support CEOs and businesses to reduce negative outcomes and to assure the end investors that this is being achieved in a transparent and consistent way.
To make this an integral part of our business model we’ve recently hired an ESG consultant to help us build a comprehensive support framework for companies as they join CrowdX.
It’s not just important as intention. It will soon be something that companies will have to set out plans for, to show how they will move to a low-carbon future – in line with the UK’s 2050 net-zero target.
To support UK growth companies, CrowdX is building a recommended baseline ESG framework, metrics and rule book for CrowdX companies to undertake. This will be based on our own research using a tested approach with our first pilot companies and with continued optimisation and refinement.
Member companies will be supported if they wish to report on these on a regular basis to their investor community, whilst at CrowdX we will continually to finesse the measurement criteria to ensure this keeps pace with changing market demands. Privately held companies will therefore be better placed to navigate their growth journey in a financial market which is increasingly focused on supporting those who are doing ‘the right thing’. These reporting metrics also have the ability to translate into an IPO plan, should that be the desired route.
We all have a responsibility to be part of the solutions towards a more sustainable planet and business plays a key role in this. It’s hard to contribute though if it’s too expensive or you don’t know how so as a new capital market, we aim to bring solutions to extracting value that benefits not just shareholders, but stakeholders too.
